Inspired by Prada

As I was browsing Prada's FW 16 collection the other day, I fell in love with their day / evening lingerie style. It's nothing new of course. We have already seen slip dresses and camisoles investing both high street and designer collections for day wear. But there is definitely something about wearing a shirt underneath. It reminded me of how fashion can be bold, fun and soft at the same time. And it made me look at my wardrobe a bit differently.

The beauty of this look is that you don't actually need to buy anything, and certainly not from Prada. At most, you might need to invest in a (preferably silk) slip dress but there are plenty out there at a reasonable price. I have listed a few I have noticed in current collections. The one I am wearing on these pictures is from Zadig & Voltaire. Old collection but they always feature at least one style of silk slip dress in their permanent collection (also included below).

This is such an easy look to put together. Yet, it's not a combination I had contemplated before. Very tediously, I just tend to wear slips under dresses (in a way that allows the lace to show). Camisoles I like wearing under suit jackets or dungarees. The closest I have ever got to this style was by wearing a t-shirt underneath. But to be honest, while the beautiful Pandora Sykes looks absolutely gorgeous in a neon pink and red 90s style slip on with a white tee, (it is really worth a look of admiration, check out here) I am not able to pull that off (not in a way that I would feel comfortable at least!).

But with a shirt underneath, a bit of lace, polka dots, and other details that stand out (platform heels with bright socks for example), something almost magical happens. It looks both editorial and wearable. What do you think?
